J1’s Match Report
The Saints J1 boys played North’s at Carina.
It’s a welcome back to the Kleidon twins from there ‘ Sounds of Music’ Fest. 2 mins into the game North’s open the scoring 1-0. One on one runaway between a North’s forward and Zac Day with the Saints boy regaining control of the pill. The combinations of the music lovers (Kleidon boys) Nick Smith, Zac Day and the brick with eyes (Scott O’Shea) goalkeeper had foiled a number of attempts from the attacking North’s team. With the game teetering from end to end North’s convert a short corner to make it 2-0. Ryan O’Flaherty is everywhere, this midfielder is playing like a machine. The boys put together some great hockey, despite the score. Must be the calming effect of the musical twins. The second half provided the Saints support staff some much needed entertainment when Cody Miller made a 200 metre dash picked the ball off the back line made a great tackle reached 4 metres to regain the pill unfortunately the effort wasn’t converted into a free hit. Mitchell Ivy got the “cheese” (yellow card) the quiet achiever from the Sunny Coast has the honour of the “Hall of Shame” along with Thomas Roache to be sent off this season. Great tackling from Matt Kleidon gave the boys a chance to level the score with a stroke. Ryan O’Flaherty steps up, North’s Keeper is over shadowed by the stature of the Saints lad. Just by sheer luck the North’s keeper defends the stroke. Cody Miller the scoring wizard, weaved, dodged and turned to score Saints goal.
Final Score 2-1 to North’s
J2/3 Match Report.
Hello everybody, I have been ask to fill in while our usual game day reporter is away. J.2. Saints Vs. Kedron O.M.G. what a game .The boys really know how to take it to the wire.
Goal scorers first half, Sam Young with a brilliant individual goal, a quick free hit from 25 yard line, Zig-Zag Zang GOAL!!!!! Sam’s next one was due to some great team passing. The ball zipping and zinging then rattling GOAL!!!! 2- nil.... With some great work from defence keeping them out we worked the ball forward down the right, the ball jabbed between a charging Keeper legs for Adrian Smith to nail a smashing slap shot GOAL!!!! This must of woke up Kedron cause they came back swinging with a couple of GOALS 3-2. After a quick free hit to Kai McMillan busting through Bing Bam Bang GOAL!!!! 4 – 2... HALF TIME.... Good I need a drink.. OK after a refreshing beverage the Boys are back. A tight tussle through the middle and some fantastic defence from Jack Young and Alex Savage, we work the ball forward creating some good chances but their defence held us out. Then a quick brake by Kedron 4 – 3. More tough defending from both teams and another quick break by Kedron 4 – 4.
After a quick chat with the coach Sam and Kai put together some great one – two’s, Sam flings a great pass to an unmarked Kai.. Swoosh GOAL!!!! 5 – 4 ....... Go Team Go..... Your Friendly Neighbourhood Reporter..
Under 13’s Match Report.
A 7 - 1 victory but we certainly needed that halftime siren! The Saints U13s forgot to play as a team in the first half of their match against North’s at Burringbar on Saturday and struggled to go into the break at 1-1, thanks to some desperate defence and Connor Robertson's great goalkeeping. Some incisive instruction from the Coach turned the team around and the second half saw the boys return to the well oiled machine of recent weeks, with each member of the team focused on playing for each other and 6 unanswered goals being produced as a result.
Liam Hart was at his brilliant best netting 5 times much to the amazement of the officials on the Tech Bench who marvelled at some of his outstanding work...(the rest of us are getting used this youngster's sublime finishing). Other goals were scored by Lewis Fossey and Matt "Pepsi" Petzer with a fine strike from a short corner, continuing his current scoring run. Zac Sheehan, Chandan Smith and Noah Caitens had outstanding games and Declan McDermott again excelled, pulling off a miraculous block on a sizzling shot which was destined for the back of the net.
Finally, whilst the boys have strung together many strong wins in the early stages of this season, it is important to remember that the reason both teams run out onto the pitch to face each other every week is to compete in the name of sporting competition. The biggest buzz the coaches and parents have had so far this year came when Andrew Groves pulled up to return and check on a felled North’s player with whom he had just clashed heavily. Well done Andy, that was inspirational!

U 11 Match Report – 19/5/12
The U11 team continued on their winning way with a dominant performance in defence and attack, defeating Commercial 8-0. The forwards implemented their successful match plan with combinations of passes, long hits up the sideline, and accurate crosses into the circle resulting in many shots on goal. 1st half goals were scored by Nick, Liam (2), and Declan with a stunning strike high into the net. The 2nd half was a repeat of the first with 4 more goals, scored by Nick (2), Liam, and Jack (putting his new stick to good use). The defence shut down all opposition attacking moves, including four defenders saving a certain goal by stopping the ball on the line. Player of the match went to Campbell who is making the wing position his own, calling for the ball, leading into space, and creating scoring chances with strong crosses into the circle.
Under 9’s Match Report.
U9’s v Valley (3-0 win)
The under 9’s had a fast pace game on Friday night due to the Valley players touch and going for the free hits and it caught our players off guard. We have never played like this before so it was a good learning experience.
We were camped in valley’s half and we just couldn’t seem to break the final line of their defence.
A big thank-you to Hayden for playing half the game with Valleys to help them out with numbers. You made Valley’s more competitive and nearly scored a couple of goals for them.
Our defence of midfield Sariah and Patrick and back Max and Ollie once again tackled everything coming at them.
Our forwards Alex Smith, Aiden, Jacob and Alex Shaw played positionally well and it opened up the game. Player of the Match was Sariah Ciatens – well done team.
Under 7’s Match Report.
U7’s v Commercial Cobras (5-0 win)
We were captained to a win by Sienna on Friday night and once again the forwards played really well attacking all game long. Jordan managed to score 4 of our goals and then came back to play backs with Jack. Sienna and Phoebe tried to get the ball all game. Jet and Jack both ran the ball from defence to attack often finding a player with their passes. Well done boys. Koen had a couple of free hits and played well. Player of the Match was awarded to Sienna. Well done team.
