J2/3 Match Report.
Saints 0 – Easts 3
Hi every one, your friendly neighbourhood reporter once again to bring you all the action from Saturdays game.
We started very strong with some sparkling passing and dazzling leads to bust through into East’s circle. About ten minutes in East’s busted through our defence and put 1 away. We fought back hard punching through their defence with a stinging shot just saved by their keeper. A quick turn over, East’s brake out and put another in. Now our boys fought hard with Jack, Alex and The Brick with Eyes (borrowed from J1 Reporter) Scott (GK) O’Shea put in huge efforts allowing only one more to slip past. We had our chances a few just wide and some great saves from Easts GK kept us to nil.. But it was good to see the boys try a new press to combat easts transfer which really started to affect their out letting.
We play a tough hard game and should be proud... But boys I love writing about zipping, zinging, smashing, bone rattling, earth shattering goals.... As one of my close friends says With great power comes great responsibility.. no,no that’s not it HULK SMASH...... Yeah!!!! Play hard Play fast .... Till next weeks exciting instalment same bat time same bat channel.. Your friendly Neighbourhood Reporter..
Under 13’s Match Report.
13 – 0 Win
The Under 13s racked up their biggest win of the season so far with a clinical 13 - 0 defeat of the Redcliffe boys. The most impressive thing about the victory was that the boys played team hockey from the outset, with each player looking to involve a teammate in a better position in order to promote the ball to advantage. Slick transfers from left to right were a feature with wide attacking players reaping the benefits of excellent build up play from the defence and midfield. As a result, Sam Gooley had his best game yet for Saints causing constant headaches for the Redcliffe halves and fullbacks on both the left and right flanks, feeding a number of brilliant crosses into the circle. Declan McDermott and Chandan Smith notched up their first goals of the season and Lewis Fossey was at his silky best with 3 sublime goals, highlighted by an amazing 360 degree shot which he'd been perfecting at home leading up to the game! Ryan Petzer also nailed a hat trick and Liam Hart slotted in 4 goals of his own. Andrew Groves also scored a nice goal to round out the 13.
A top effort boys, keep it up!
Under 11’s Match Report.
U 11 Match Report – 26/5/12 (4-3 win)
The U11 team had a stirring come-from–behind win against Easts 4-3. The team featured a very different line–up with three regular players unavailable, two U9 boys (Alex & Oliver) stepping up to help, and a new young goalkeeper, Cameron. Many players were forced to play in unfamiliar positions and the 1st half saw the team a little disorganised in defence and attack. Despite several attacking opportunities, the team failed to score and went to the halftime break down 2-0 (after a stunning Easts goal shot into the top of the net.)
The 2nd half saw much more disciplined and determined play. Liam scored the team’s first goal early and this sparked the team into action. New goalie, Cameron, had a strong save early in the half, and the team soon scored the equalizer to Campbell. Saints went ahead shortly after, when Jack finished off his own strong run from midfield. Saints scored their 4th goal after scrambling play by four attackers in the circle. Easts scored late in the game to have Saints supporters anxiously awaiting the final whistle. The final result was a credit to all players who never gave up, and who grew into their unaccustomed positions as the match progressed.
Alex and Oliver alternated on the wing and showed no nerves playing against much bigger opponents. The other forwards, Nick, Aiden and Campbell stepped up to contribute strongly to the four 2nd half goals. Liam had his usually tireless game in the midfield and was well-supported by Jack and Jarvis who worked hard in defence and attack. In defence, Connor, playing his first game on the field was very strong on the ball and combined well with Declan, Jarvis, Ben and Liam. They marked and tackling strongly and turned defence into attack. Young goalkeeper, Cameron, settled straight into the team turning in a confident performance – always being well-positioned and making several fine saves. Player of the match went to Jarvis who put in his strongest performance so far when the team needed him most. He marked up closely, tackled strongly, frequently stealing the ball from his opponent and sending well-directed passes up field.
