If you have any problems/concerns about the Club or hockey in general throughout the season please contact Brett GOULD.
Hi All,
I will be sending out this newsletter weekly, It will have general information about your club.
Included in the Newsletter will be team reports from each team, news about seniors and important information relating to your boys/girls e.g. team photos, team roster for canteen duty or special events.
If you wish for me to add information at anytime for the newsletter then please let me know.
We are very fortunate to have coaches (most teams have two) for each team this year and Managers for all teams except for the Under 7’s and Under 9’s.
If you have a child in one of these sides and want to help Nick.H. out that would be great. It doesn’t matter if you know anything about hockey and there is not to much involved but it would be helpful for Nick to concentrate on teaching the kids.
We have had some success in the Brisbane Representative sides; (I apologise if I miss anyone)

Team Reports;
U11 match report 14th April
Our first game was also our first win of the season seeing the Saints getting up against Norths by 9 goals to 1. The boys showed good skills moving the ball both out to the wingers as well as some long passes down the centre to set up many goal scoring opportunities. A good number of these opportunities were converted too with goals coming from Will, Aidan, Liam, Declan, Jacob and Jack. Liam’s goal scoring was particularly exciting to watch as he made full use of the whole goal box – back, sides and roof ! The teamwork apparent in the first game of the season was excellent with good sharing of the ball and many passes to players with better field position. Norths played a good offensive game, especially in the second half, with some accurate passing resulting in open space and goal opportunities but to no avail - the Saints defensive game on field was too strong and ably backed up by Connor in goal who made some good saves when required.
Well done boys – this was great start and the play will only improve during the season as you work more and more as a team.
U13 match report 14th April
Our first win of the season getting up 2-1 against Easts 1. This really was a game of two halves, with Easts having the best of the first period and then Saints increasing the talk and passing the ball around and through Easts defences to take control in the second half. The commitment of all players was terrific, with both goals coming from desperate scrambles deep within the circle with Liam and Matt simply refusing to allow the ball to be cleared by the Easts defence. The Petzer boys had great games with Matt's passing and Ryan's leading to position a real feature. Declan's switching of play across the backline to Chandan and Noah in the second half showed maturity beyond his years and really opened up the game for our midfielders and forwards. Special mention must be made of Connor in goals who made several telling saves to keep us in the match when the chips were down.
Keep it up boys, overall this was a real improvement on the first game and we can all look forward to our next game with confidence.
U11 match report 21ST April
The new-look U11 team put up a strong showing in a trial game against Kedron Wavell winning 10 – 0. The team has a mix of experienced players, some completely new to hockey and some talented U9 boys. For Campbell and Nick, this was their 1st game of hockey, and only the 2nd match for Ben and Jake. In only the 2nd match of the season, the boys showed improved confidence, skills and team work. The team started strongly in the 1st half. The midfielders, Jarvis, Aidan, Liam, Declan and Owen provided great scoring opportunities through clever short passing combinations and long passes up the wing. Good work in the circle by Campbell, Jacob, Nick, Jack, Aidan, Ben and Liam earned 8 short corners and many other shots on goal. Goals were scored by Jack, Liam, and Nick to lead 3-0 at half time.
The boys' confidence showed through in the 2nd half as they continued to attack cleverly and score another 7 goals. Declan, playing forward, created many shots on goal, scoring two himself. Nick, added a 2nd half hat trick. Liam picked up two more well deserved goals after playing a great team game passing the ball to his new teammates as often as possible. The teamwork in attack was matched by determined defence whenever the opposition attacked. Jake stood tall at fullback, supporting goalie, Connor. Jake frequently turned defence into attack with long clearing passes.
Other highlights of the match included the leadership shown on the field with strong communication from Declan and Connor, great leading into space from the younger players, Jacob and Aidan, strong marking of opposition players by Ben and Owen and the confidence and strength on the ball showed by Jack, Jarvis and Jake The team has one more trial match before fixtures start.
U13 match report 21ST April
The U13s showed remarkable improvement in an entertaining win against Norths on Saturday. The final score of 1 – 0 didn’t reflect the overall superiority of our boys who played as a team and dominated throughout. The combination of playmakers such as Zac, Lewis, Andy and Harry was a real highlight. Incisive passes found Liam leading to space and opened up the Norths defence time and time again. Strangely enough, the only goal was from a brilliant solo effort from Liam, so we are still searching for that final killer play to finish off some of these attacks. Whenever Norths did break through, Chandan was there to mop up and streak away with the ball. Jack played his best game so far and gave the coaches and spectators a glimpse of just how good he is going to be with more games under his belt - keep it up Jack!
Next match is against the strong Bulimba team. The key to yet another improved performance in this one boys, is to play with the same confidence that you took into the Norths game.
